On Monday, in an administrative meeting, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that West Bengal schools are likely to reopen offline classes after November 15. During the meeting, the CM Banerjee directed the Chief Secretary to open schools saying that the campuses should be sanitized and made completely ready before it reopens.

Earlier, Banerjee had stated that schools will be reopened on alternate days after Durga Puja. Schools were closed in the state since March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. While reopening the schools, the education department will work on modalities and guidelines. 

Moreover, the CM had also mentioned earlier that schools will be reopened after the state government analyses the Covid-19 situation in the state before taking the final decision. 

States such as Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Jammu, Haryana, Assam have already reopened offline classes with 50% attendance. Students who are willing to attend the offline classes should come with a written permission from their parents or guardians allowing them to attend the physical classes in the school.
