Weather Update: Relief from Heatwave in Delhi-NCR, IMD predicts Rainfall

On Thursday, the weather in Delhi-NCR gave relief to people from the heatwave. The IMD has predicted rainfall in these regions of India.

People of Delhi-NCR have felt relief from the scorching heat today. In some areas, people have witnessed light drizzle and thunderstorms. This year, people were facing the scorching sun with a heatwave since March. However, now the weather has brought some relief. 

On Thursday morning, the weather remained pleasant in the national capital with a cloudy sky and wind blowing. In April 2022, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius.

Weather predictions by the weather department 

As predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature for today in the national capital will hover around 25 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will reach around 39 degrees Celsius. As per the prediction, in Gujarat, the maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 40 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius respectively. 

As predicted by Skymet weather, there is a possibility of rain in UP for three consecutive days. Thunder and lightning are also predicted to take place in Madhya Pradesh as well. 

It is due to the activity of Western Disturbance and the pressure of moist winds coming from the South that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with strong thunder in the mountain regions of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. The weather department has predicted winds to blow at a speed of 60 to 70 km per hour.

Yellow Alert for Himachal Pradesh 

The MeT department has issued a yellow alert for rain and snowfall to occur in Himachal Pradesh. It is predicted that the weather will remain clear on April 23 and 24. 

Meanwhile, during the next 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall is likely to take place in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland. Light to moderate rainfall is expected over Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Himalayas, Sikkim, West Bengal, and Eastern Bihar.
