Weather Update: Delhi Receives Rainfall, Relief From Heatwave
The people of Delhi NCR have got relief from the heatwave conditions as the city receives rainfall followed by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

On Friday morning, Delhi woke up to pleasant weather as rain lashed parts of Delhi NCR. With thunderstorms and gusty winds, the maximum temperature has dropped below 30 degrees Celsius in the national capital.

Earlier in the morning, the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) New Delhi shared the weather predictions for today via their Twitter handle. The predictions said, "Thunderstorms with moderate intensity rainfall would occur over and adjoining areas of many places of entire Delhi and NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh) during the next 2 hours."

The India Meteorological Department
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the Western Disturbance, the weather in North India has changed. Rain is likely to occur in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh till June 18. For today, the department has issued a rain alert in Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
IMD said that under the influence of the Western Disturbances and lower level easterlies, there is a possibility of widespread rainfall followed by thunderstorms and lightning over the areas in the Western Himalayan region. The adjoining plain areas including Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and isolated rainfall over Rajasthan during the next five days.
Rainfall in the last 24 hours
According to the Skymet Weather agency, on Thursday, light rain occurred over parts of Delhi, Haryana, East Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, East Gujarat, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands. Moderate to heavy intensity rains have occurred in Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Parts of Telangana, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Konkan, and Goa have witnessed light to moderate rain in the isolated areas.
