In the video it can be seen that the men are smearing colors on her while chanting “holi hai” and one of them also smashed an egg on her head, she can be seen saying ‘bye bye’ in order to escape them and she also slapped a man who tried to hold her and finally she manages to free herself from them. The woman was drenched and unrecognizable by the end of the video.
Delhi police stated “Prima-facie, on the basis of landmark in the video, it seems that the video pertains to Paharganj, however, it is being verified on ground whether any such incident took place in that area or the video is old one”. No complaints has been lodged related to any misbehavior with a foreigner in the Paharganj police station but the police stated that “an email has been sent to Japanese embassy requesting for help in establishing the identity of the girl or any other detail about the incident”. Three boys including a juvenile have been apprehended and they have confessed to the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Sanjay Kumar Sain said that the video is being analyzed to find out details. All the 3 accused are residents of a nearby area in Paharganj.
The girl in the video tweeted from her Twitter handle that she has reached Bangladesh and was fit mentally and physically.
Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted “Very disturbing videos getting viral on social media showing sexual harassment with foreign nationals on Holi! I am issuing notice to Delhi police to examine these videos and arrest the perpetrators! Completely shameful behavior!” The National Commission for Women too took notice of the video and asked the Delhi Police to register an FIR in this matter.
