The Serum Institute of India has dispatched the first lot of the Covidshield vaccine, on Tuesday, for the first drive of Vaccination scheduled to start on the 16th January.
This very lot is supposed to be for the health workers and other personnel on the front line like the Policemen etc.
The proposed vaccination has departed from the Serum Institute of India, Pune. In this way, the long war against the epidemic seems to be reaching its turning point. Pune's DCP Namrata Patil gave this information.

Before the vaccination campaign started in the country from January 16, the government placed an order of more than six crore doses of Corona vaccine from Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech. The value of this order is around Rs 1300 crore. Sources said that the government has ordered 55 lakh doses of Bharat Biotech, which costs Rs 162 crore. The government on Monday ordered the purchase of 1.1 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine 'Covishield' from Oxford.
Who will be given the doses First ?
In a meeting with the Chief Ministers on Monday, Prime Minister Modi said that in the second phase of vaccination, all people above 50 years and those below 50 are at the highest risk of infection will be vaccinated. The most vital aspect to take care of in this vaccination campaign is the identification of those who have to be vaccinated. The strategy up to the booth level is to be implemented.
