Shaan comments on his friend KK:" I can't believe it's been a year since he died". They recorded together over 25 songs. Recalling those days, Shaan said, “We had some of our best times while recording songs together or while performing on stage. KK was very disciplined. He’d be on time and his preparation .......... We did some great duets together like Dus Bahaane (Dus; 2005), Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe (Dil Chahta Hai; 2001) and It’s The Time To Disco (Kal Ho Naa Ho; 2003), Jo Dar Gaya Woh Mar Gaya (Ghaath; 2000) and Dekho Nashe Mein (Race; 2008) are also memorable.”
His debut song in Bollywood was Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil Se (1999 film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam). He also sang some other hit songs like Awaarapan Banjara pan in Jism (2002), Labon Ko in Bhool Bhulaiyaa ,Aankhon Mein Teri in Om Shanti Om (2007), Khuda Jane in Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), Dil Kyun Yeh Mera in Kites (2010, India Wale in Happy New Year (2014) and Tu Jo Mila from Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). He was also awarded the National Award for his song Tu Aashiqui Hai from Jhankaar Beats.
It is hard to believe that KK is no more with us. Just hours before he died, KK was performing on stage one last time'. As KK passed away on May 31 last year, his fans and admirers were totally devastated. " A great loss to the music world." The music lovers even don't know that they were watching KK's last live show. The audience present at the Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata were waving their mobile phones keeping flashlights on as KK was delivering an electrifying performance of some of his super hit songs.
Shaan stated,"I never imagined I’d be singing Yaaron Dosti as a tribute to KK. KK forever..."
In a career of about two decades, KK gave his voice to so many hit songs in various languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Bengali. KK won the hearts of music lovers countless times by singing romantic as well as melancholic songs. He will remain in our hearts forever.
