A well known journalist Tarun Tejpal, accused of sexual assault, released with no charges. Tarun Tejpal, former editor-in-chief of Tehelka magazine has been arrested for sexually assaulting a female partner in a luxury hotel lift in Goa in 2013. The journalist has got big relief after being exonerated after 8 years by the Sessions court of Goa.

In November 2013, Tarun was arrested after an FIR has been filed against him by Goa police. A charge sheet of 2846 pages has been registered against him. Journalist Tarun Tejpal was tried under sections 342, 354, 354-A, 376 (2), 376 (2) (k) of the IPC.

The issue of the matter

Tarun Tejpal has been accused for sexually assaulting a fellow female journalist at a Tehelka event in Goa. According to the lady, it was night when she saw Tarun while coming back after leaving a guest in his room. Tarun asked her to wake up the guest and suddenly pulled her inside the lift. 

In her statement to Goa police, she said, "Now I could understand something. In the meantime, Tejpal started pressing the lift button, which neither stopped the lifters nor opened the door and then Tejpal lifted the closed elevator. He did whatever he wanted in that meantime."
