A Spanish photographer by the name of Fernando Braga managed to capture the exact moment a lightning bolt hit the iconic and famous statue in Brazil of Christ The Redeemer. He posted the pictures on Instagram and they went viral. The photos are awe-inspiring to say the least. The photos were accompanied by a long caption in Spanish. The photographer also mentioned what kind of camera he used to capture this phenomenal moment.

According to the caption, the photographer used a Nikon D800. The photos look eerily divine, almost as if announcing the second coming of Christ. The photographer also shared a video of the images on his Instagram account in addition to the images.

It has a soapstone interior and is lined with reinforced concrete. It has a 125-foot height and rests atop a 26-foot pedestal. The arms are 92 feet broad when extended.

The Archdiocesan Shrine of Christ the Redeemer of Corcovado was founded in 2006, on the occasion of the shrine’s 75th anniversary of dedication, by Cardinal Oscar Scheidt, the archbishop of Rio at the time.

During a global vote campaign organized by the New 7 Wonders Foundation in 2007, the Christ the Redeemer was selected as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

The post with the images has close to 75 thousand likes and even more views, whereas the video has more than 30 thousand likes and even more views. Since it was posted eight hours ago, the post has garnered more than 2.3 lakh likes on Instagram and even more views.

These photographs have gone viral all over the Internet and for good reason. They are truly spectacular. Many religious people in the comments are also interpreting this moment as a sign of some divine intervention. What this divine sign is for, still may be unclear.
