SC's order on orphans, strict instructions given to State and Central Government
Covid-19 has made more than 30,000 children orphans.

More than 30 thousand children have lost their parents during the Corona period. Now the Supreme Court has given some big and strict instructions to the central and state governments regarding their upbringing and education.
The Supreme Court of the country said that it is the responsibility of the governments to ensure the upbringing and education of children who have lost their parents or guardians due to Corona.
“Days are passing by without children getting any food... Hope you will understand [to the Centre and the State governments] the agony these children are undergoing on the streets... We do not know the age of these children starving on the streets or how many of them are there in such a large country,” a visibly anguished Justice L. Nageswara Rao, accompanied by Justice Aniruddha Bose on the Bench, said. “In Kerala, the government has announced a package to give ₹3 lakh to these children as a lump sum....” Justice Rao added.
The court said in its order that "food, medicine and clothes should be provided to all the orphan children immediately. Also, the children whose parents are unable to keep them, those children should now be handed over to the CWC."
The Kerala government would provide a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 to the children till they were 18 years of age. It has also decided to bear the cost of their education up to the degree level.
“So every State may have its own approach, we need to know what they are,” Justice Rao said.
