Renowned TV journalist Arnab Goswami granted bail by the Supreme Court in the 2018 suicide case
The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted an interim bail to Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of Republic TV.

You might have binary opinions on him, but let’s just face it, Arnab Goswami, compelled an entire generation to watch news, and, more so, be genuinely interested in what’s happening in the country.
Goswami was arrested on 4th November in a case of alleged abetment to suicide, Courting back to 2018 and concerning Anvay Naik, a Mumbai based an architect who designed Goswami's studio and his mom Kumud Naik. Naik and his mom had been found lifeless on 5th August 2018 and in a suicide notice located at the spot, Naik had accused Goswami and others of failing to pay his dues. He is being investigated over his alleged capacity in the demise of Anvay Naik. Mr Goswami and Republic TV network had denied all allegations that he owed cash to Naik.

Mr Goswami approached the high court after a lower court denied him bail.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted an interim bail to Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of Republic TV. A bench of Justice Chandrachur directed Arnab and two other accused to grant interim bail on a bond of Rs 50,000. The court asked the police commissioner to execute the bail order immediately. Arnab's bail application was turned down by the Bombay High Court, after which he appealed to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court also reprimanded the Uddhav government during the hearing of Arnab's plea. The court said that if the state governments targets a person, then they should feel that we will protect them.
A host of senior leaders and federal ministers of BJP had criticised his arrest, saying it was "an attack on the media's freedom of expression".
