Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot on Friday announced 19 new districts and 3 new divisions in the state.

Chief
Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot on Friday announced 19 new districts and 3 new
divisions in the state which include Anupgarh, Balotara, Beawar, Deeg,
Deedwana-Kuchaman, Dudu, Gangapur City, Jaipur North, Jaipur South, Jodhpur
East, Jodhpur West, Kekri, Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal, Neem ka Thana, Phalodi,
Salumber, Sanchore and Shahpura as districts and the 3 new divisions are
Banswara, Pali and Sikar.
Gehlot
stated that the decision has been taken while keeping the demands of people in
mind, a high level committee was created to examine the proposal for the new
districts creation and based on the final report of the committee the
announcement was made in the assembly. Ashok Gehlot said, “From a geographical
point of view, Rajasthan is the largest state and due to this, there are
several districts where the Headquarter is over a hundred km away from its
farthest point. The common man has to face difficulties. Moreover, with an
excessive population in some districts, the administration has difficulty in
reaching every family.”
The
decision was criticized by the BJP, as former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje
stated the decision has been taken due to political reasons and the state will
undergo several administrative issues and the entire economic system of
Rajasthan will be at stake. He also said that many important issues have been ignored
in the new districts announcement and the decision will cause challenges then
making things easier. Presently Rajasthan has 33 districts.
