Rail Roko Riots: Section 144 imposed, NSA over disruption of Life & Property in Lucknow
Six-hour-long nationwide 'Rail roko' Riots is called by The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) demanding the resignation of Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
Following the rail roko agitation, the Lucknow Police have threatened to take harsh action against anyone who joins the farmer unions' call for a demonstration. Those who attempt to disrupt normalcy will be charged under the National Security Act, according to the police (NSA). As a precaution, the police have implemented section 144 in Lucknow, which restricts gatherings of four or more individuals.
"Police will take action against individuals who participate in the farmers' organization's 'Rail Roko Andolan.' The district has also implemented the 144 CrPC, which will result in the imposition of NSA if anyone attempts to disrupt normalcy "According to the Lucknow Police Department.
Dhruva Kant Thakur, the Lucknow Police Commissioner, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police, and Inspectors in Charge in the Lucknow Police Commissionerate to "not allow any anti-national activity to take place" and to take action against 'anti-social' elections involved in such activity under relevant sections of the law.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called for a six-hour nationwide 'Rail roko' movement on Monday to demand that Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni be removed from the Union Cabinet over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, in which his son Ashish Mishra was killed.
