Online scammers lures people into scams

A new job scam is spreading on social media. Online scammers are sliding into feeds in the name of easy part-time work and extra cash. They gain people's trust and trick them into investing money. However, once a large amount is invested, people lose all their money.

Several cases of such incidents have been recorded in the past few months. According to the reports the woman received a message on her messaging app about a work from home opportunity to earn extra income. To know more about the job, the victim contacted the person and later decided to apply for the part-time job. Once the tasks started, the scammers offered the victim simple tasks such as clicking the 'like' button on videos on a video-sharing platform. According to police, the victim was paid for completing these tasks.

Later when the scammers gained the trust of the victim, they offered the woman prepaid tasks and promised her more income if she invested money. The woman agreed to deposit money and later transferred Rs 23.83 lakh to two bank accounts.

When the victim decided to withdraw her cryptocurrency investment, the scammers demanded an additional Rs 30 lakh from her to release her payment. However, when she refused to pay, she was unable to contact the scammers and later realized that she had fallen for an online scam.
