Pop Sensation Rihanna tweets about the Farmers Protests: Kangana Reverts

Rihanna, the International pop star tweeted on Tuesday supporting the Farmers Protest happening in India. Along with this, she criticized shutting down the internet at the protest venue. Rihanna (32) is the first world class star to support the Farmer’s movement. She tweeted with a CNN article, "Why aren't we talking about it? Hashtag Kisan Andolan. ”Rihanna has 10 crore followers on Twitter and her tweet was retweeted by thousands of people in an hour.

Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar praised Rihanna's tweet, while actress Kangana Ranaut on the other hand criticized it. The farmers of many states on the Delhi border have been protesting against the new farm laws for more than two months.

The Kisan Morcha (SKM) said on Tuesday that there would be no formal dialogue with the government until the harassment by the police and administration and the release of the detained farmers. The group of several farmers' organizations also issued a statement alleging the hindrance by the BJP and RSS activists, including hammering on roads, barbed wire, shutting down internal roadways, increased internet services.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in an all-party meeting on last Saturday that the government's proposal to postpone the implementation of agricultural laws for atleast the next an year and a half. The Kisan Morcha had reverted on the Prime Minister’s statement that all new agricultural laws should be repealed. In the last round of talks between the government and farmer organizations on 22 January, the government proposed to postpone the implementation of the laws for 18 months but the Farmers Organization are adamant on repealing the laws all together.
