Former President of Pakistan and chief of Army staff Pervez Musharraf passed away after a long fight with illness in Dubai. He was 79 years old.

Former President of Pakistan and chief of Army staff Pervez Musharraf passed away after a long fight with illness in Dubai. He was 79 years old.
He was suffering from amyloidosis due to which his organs were malfunctioning, this disease affects the connective tissues and organs and inhibit normal functioning. This is a disease where there is abnormal build-up of a protein called amyloid in organs and tissues in the body.
Pervez Musharraf was in a self-imposed exile in Dubai since 2016 due to facing charges for the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and the Red Mosque cleric killing case. He had expressed earlier his wish of spending the “rest of his life” in his home country.
Musharraf became the 10th president of Pakistan in June and stepped down in August 2008 facing a possible impeachment. Musharraf came to power after a military takeover of the government in the year 1999 serving as the chief executive of Pakistan.
The chiefs of Pakistan’s army, navy and air force have expressed their condolences on Musharraf’s death. As per sources a special flight will bring Pervez Musharraf’s body on Monday for burial.
