Omicron Threat: Schools getting closed in these States
Due to rapid spurt in new cases across the country, several cities and states of the country closure of schools, colleges and other educational institutions are shut down.

The Covid-19 fresh cases are once again increasing on a daily basis and this time, it is the new Omicron variant. Due to rapid spurt in new cases across the country, several cities and states including Delhi, Mumbai, Odisha and West Bengal have announced closure of schools, colleges and other educational institutions.
The purpose behind closing the schools is to stop the spread of the deadly virus. Delhi was the first state to announce the closure of all the schools, because of surge in Covid-19 cases. Following the decisions were taken to close the schools in Haryana.
List of states and union territories that have announced closure of schools:
- All schools in Delhi have been declared closed from 3 January 2022 till further orders of the authority.
- All schools, colleges are closed in Haryana till 12 January 2022.
- Schools in Maharashtra's capital Mumbai are closed till 31 January 2022.
- Schools are now closed in Tamil Nadu for classes 1 to 8 till January 10, 2022.
- Schools are not closed in Orissa, but classes for primary students have been postponed for now.
- Schools and colleges are closed in West Bengal till further orders.
- Schools remained closed till 9 January 2022 in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan.
- Schools in Patna have been declared closed till January 8, 2022 due to cold wave in Bihar.
- Schools in Telangana will remain closed from January 8 to 16, amid rising number of Kovid-19 cases in Telangana.
- All schools and colleges are closed in Jharkhand till 15 January 2022.
- All schools and colleges in the states of Goa are closed till January 26, 2022.
- As per the latest lockdown guidelines in Punjab, schools and colleges in Punjab have been closed till January 15, 2022.
- In Uttar Pradesh's Noida, Ghaziabad, Hapur and Greater Noida, schools have been closed following a surge in Omicron cases and severe cold waves. Schools will remain closed for 15 days i.e. from 31 December 2021 to 14 January 2022.
