In India monsoon arrives during June and stays till September every year. The onset occurs by South India followed by the other regions of the country. According to the information by IMD, monsoon is ready to knock in Kerala from today.

What reports say?

“Due to the strengthening of the south-westerly winds and the spatial expansion of the rainfall over Kerala, the conditions are favourable for the onset of the Southwest monsoon on June 3,” the weather summary issued at 8.30 am on Thursday read.

“There will be strong winds with speeds ranging between 40 to 50 km/hr gusting to 60 km/hr along the southwest and west-central Arabian Sea. Similar wind speeds are likely over the Gulf of Mannar and Comorin till June 5,” the weather bulletin informed.

IMD prediction

The IMD had earlier predicted the arrival of monsoon in Kerala on May 31 or four days more or earlier, but on May 30, the monsoon situation has not yet formed in Kerala. According to IMD, monsoon is expected to be normal this year.

As recommended by the satellite images, the Kerala coast and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea are cloudy. Now in the coming time, it can be seen that monsoon will soon arrive in other states of the country. This is good news for the farmers.
