A tragic incident has taken place in Bengaluru where an under-construction metro pillar crashed down on a two wheeler on which a family of four were riding.

A tragic incident has taken place in Bengaluru where an under-construction metro pillar crashed down on a two wheeler on which a family of four were riding. The mother and son were pillion riders and suffered the most injuries due to which the woman identifies as Tejaswini and her two-and-a-half-year- old son, Vihaan succumbed to their injuries during treatment at Altis hospital. Tejaswini’s husband and their daughter are still under treatment.
The incident took place around 10.45am and was reported from Bengaluru’s Nagavara area. The pillar which came crashing down was about 40 feet long and weighed several tonnes giving us an idea about how severe the accident was.
The construction work has been suspended in the outer ring road for 2 days and a case has been registered and investigation is also going on. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced 20 lakhs rupees for the family.
Anjum Parvez, managing director, BMRCL has announced to conduct an internal audit. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has also promised to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.
Locals and commuters of the area had conducted a protest against the Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) which is the city’s civic body.
