Mayor?

After the Municipal Corporation elections in Delhi, it is now the turn to elect the Mayor. According to the number of seats, the victory of the Aam Aadmi Party is being considered fixed, but the second largest party BJP has also staked claim on the mayor's seat. After integration in MCD, now there will be only one mayor in the whole of Delhi.

After the change in the rules of MCD, the power of the Mayor was also increased. After the increase in the power of Mayor, discussion has started in the political circles of Delhi whether the post of Mayor will now become more powerful than the Chief Minister?

The head of any municipal corporation is called Mayor. The mayor is responsible for the basic arrangements of any one city. The Mayor constitutes his cabinet i.e. Mayor in Council (MIC). After the change in rules in MCD, 250 councilors will be elected in Delhi for 5 years. These councilors will elect the mayor. However, members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha can also vote in it. The tenure of the mayor will be for one year.

For the first year in Delhi, the post of mayor is reserved for women. In such a situation, 4 names from Aam Aadmi Party are at the forefront of this race. According to the report, the names of Delhi Women's Commission members Promila Gupta and Sarika Chowdhary, state convenor of AAP women's unit Nirmala Kumari and party's ST/SC wing vice-president Priyanka Gautam are in discussion.

Apart from the mayor, the election of deputy mayor and 6 mayor-in-council is also to be held. Nominations for the mayoral election will begin on December 27 and votes will be cast on January 6.
