In view of the pandemic situation in the country many states have imposed lockdown for the safety of the general public. Lockdown in Maharashtra has been extended till 15th June. However, relaxation could be provided to some districts with less positive cases.

On the decision to increase the lockdown, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that "The lockdown is the need of the hour. This decision is being taken to save the people of the state." While addressing the people of the state on Sunday, CM said that "The lockdown has been extended till June 15. After review, the government will decide on the exemption in the districts. Many people are threatening the movement if the unlock is not announced. I request them to be patient". "I do not enjoy banning, but this is the need of the hour, because the corona crisis has not averted", he added.

CM Uddhav said that "Maharashtra is ready to vaccinate all the citizens. Vaccination can occur day and night but there is a severe shortage of vaccines. We hope to get more vaccines in June". "The fight against Kovid has been going on for the last one and a half years. We have started many schemes. Free food is paid directly to the poor in the bank account. Although now people are saying that the second wave of Corona is getting weaker, the cases are getting less. But still we have to be careful. That's why we haven't imposed a very strict lockdown yet. But there are also some districts where cases are increasing which is a matter of concern. Cases are increasing in rural areas", he added.
