IndiGo Flight Diverted to Pakistan Airspace Due to Bad Weather, Safely Returns
The incident comes just a few months after a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight entered Indian airspace for nearly 10 minutes in May 2023

An IndiGo flight from Amritsar to Ahmedabad entered Pakistan airspace due to bad weather on Saturday, June 11, 2023. The flight, which was carrying 186 passengers and crew, entered Pakistani airspace at around 7:30 pm and returned to Indian airspace at around 8:01 pm. The airline said that the deviation was well coordinated with Pakistani air traffic controllers and that the flight landed safely in Ahmedabad at 9:05 pm.
The incident comes just a few months after a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight entered Indian airspace for nearly 10 minutes in May 2023. That flight, which was carrying 178 passengers and crew, entered Indian airspace at around 1:30 pm and returned to Pakistani airspace at around 1:40 pm.
Both incidents are being investigated by the respective governments.
In a separate incident on Saturday, a Delhi-Chennai flight made an emergency landing at Delhi Airport after one of its engines reported a snag mid-air. The flight, which was carrying 138 passengers and crew, landed safely at Delhi Airport at around 11:00 pm.
The cause of the snag is not yet known.
These incidents highlight the importance of safety in air travel. Airlines and governments must work together to ensure that all flights are operated safely and that passengers are protected.
