IIT Madras admission through GATE 2023 scores begins for MA in Humanities & Social Sciences

Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Madras inviting applications on the basis of GATE 2023 Scores. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of IIT M is offering two-year Master’s programme in Development Studies, English, and Economics. Candidates with valid GATE score in subject code-XH can apply for admissions from today, March 18.

Candidates can apply for the IIT Madras admissions 2023 by April 7. Candidates can visit the official website-- hss.iitm.ac.in to apply and get more details on the MA course. As per the course details shared by IIT Madras, the students are required to complete a minimum of 200 credits to be eligible for the M.A. degree. 

Each stream will have 25 seats for Indian students; seats for foreign students will be supernumerary. The students of each stream will have the option of upgrading to PhD program as per the Institute guidelines.

Speaking about the restructured MA programmes, Prof. Jyotirmaya Tripathy, Head, Dept. of HSS, IIT Madras, said, “Historically we have been leaders among IITs in offering degrees in liberal arts. 

Given the changing needs of time, we have restructured our programme to cater to that section of students who want to pursue a career path that gets the best of liberal education along with market readiness in an environment that is conducive to creativity and reflection.
