Harjinder Kaur To Get Rs 40 Lakh Cash Prize From Punjab Government
The Punjab government announces a cash prize of Rs 40 lakh for Harjinder Kaur as she wins bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022.

On Tuesday, the Punjab government declared a monetary compensation of Rs 40 lakh for weightlifter Harjinder Kaur after she guaranteed a bronze medal in the 71kg competition at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
A resident of Nabha in the Patiala region, Harjinder totaled 212kgs (93 in Snatch and 119 in Clean & Jerk) to complete on the platform on Monday night.

Britain's Sarah Davies won the gold decoration with a sum of 229kgs, while Canada's Alexis Ashworth got the silver with 214kgs.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann complimented Harjinder on her accomplishment
He tweeted, "Congratulations to Harjinder Kaur, a native of village Mehas near Nabha, for winning a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games. Harjinder you will be a source of inspiration for girls in Punjab. Congratulations to your parents and coaches too."
Further, he wrote, "Punjab's weightlifting player Harjinder Kaur won the bronze medal in Commonwealth Games 2022. Harjinder Kaur, a resident of Nabha, will be given prize money of Rs 40 lakh under the sports policy of the Punjab government. This achievement of Harjinder will encourage sportspersons, especially our daughters in the future."
