Gujarat: New variant of Corona virus found in Sabarmati river
A new variant of the deadly corona virus has been found in Sabarmati river.
In Gujarat corona virus has been found in the famous Sabarmati river. Sabarmati water samples were taken, in which corona infection has been found in all the samples. This river originates in the middle of Ahmedabad in the state. This is the first case of getting corona infection in any river of the country.
Samples were collected from other water bodies as well and the infection has been found in them also. Researchers have also found a sample infected from Bharu river flowing in Guwahati, Assam.
Manish Kumar of the Department of Earth Sciences of the Indian Institute of Technology in the capital Gandhinagar has informed that till now the survival of corona was confirmed only in the sewage line, but now the virus has also been detected in the river.
Manish Kumar has told that 694 samples were taken from Sabarmati river, 549 from Kankaria pond and 402 from Chandola pond. After , researchers believe that all the natural water sources of the country should be investigated, because many serious mutations of the virus have been seen in the second wave.
