Jasson M Allen AI generated artwork worn an art competition in the United States. Since then his winning has turned into a subject of argument and controversies because critics are of the opinion that this type of art would endanger the livelihood of real artists who make beauty by their hand without the help of any application.

It is mentioned in the Colorado newspaper that the two judges who were assigned the task to decide the winner were unaware that 39 year ald Jasson had created his art with the help of AI. But they clarified that this would not affect their decision because the purpose of the contest was to see “how the art tells a story, how it invokes a spirit.

Generation of images with the help of AI tools is in trend nowadays. Many companies like Google and Open AI are investing on it. Jasson used the AI tool namely Mid-journey to create his work which won the $300 cash price. This app uses texts and aligns them into beautiful illustrations.

However social media is flooded with opposing comments from the people all over the world. Artists fear that this AI created arts could replace their handmade artworks in the new future and ruin their profession.

The comments in social media project the anger, dissatisfaction and disapproval of the masses. One said “Jason Allen, you are not an artist. You had never used real tools. Just texts”.  While another one said “Midjourney can be fun, but it should never be used to cheat other artists.

Allen suggested as mentioned in Pueblo Chieftain newspaper that AI art should possess its own category to prevent any future controversies.
