Former CM of Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad named his new party as “Democratic Azad Party”

Ghulam Nabi Azad who used to be a leader of Congress party declared the name of his new party this Monday 26th September, 2022. After quitting congress on August 26 of this year, he now formed a new party of his own and named it as “Democratic Azad Party”

Ghulam Nabi Azad who used to be a leader of Congress party declared the name of his new party this Monday 26th September, 2022. After quitting congress on August 26 of this year, he now formed a new party of his own and named it as “Democratic Azad Party”. Azad had also been the leader of opposition party in Rajya Sabha while he a member of Indian National Congress.

Azad informed reporters in Jammu," Around 1,500 names for my new party were sent to us, in Urdu, Sanskrit. The mix of Hindi & Urdu is 'Hindustani'. We want the name to be democratic, peaceful & independent." After conducting a meeting with his party members on Sunday, Azad also revealed the picture of the flag of his new party which constitutes the trio of mustard, white and blue colour.

Earlier the former Congress leader had described the principle of the party. According to him his “party will focus on restoration of full statehood right to land, and employment for natives Jammu and Kashmir, right to land and employment for those holding residence of Jammu and Kashmir”. As he was the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2005 to 2008, he understands the needs of its people.

Mr Azad had announced to launch of his own political outfit that will focus on the restoration of full statehood in his first public meeting in Jammu after quitting Congress. He stated "I've not decided upon a name for my party yet. The people of J-K will decide the party's name and flag. I'll give a Hindustani name to my party that everyone can understand". 

Azad informed that the first unit of his political outfit would be shaped in Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Azad criticized Congress in his first public meeting at Sainik Colony in Jammu by saying. "Congress was made by us by our blood, not by computers, not by Twitter. People are trying to defame us but their reach is limited to computers and tweets. That is why Congress is nowhere to be seen on the ground”.
