The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has announced a nationwide strike on Friday. According to the information given by the IMA, from 6 am to 6 pm today, all non-emergency and non-covid medical services will be stopped.

Reason for opposition from IMA

The recent decision of the central government that doctors of Ayurveda will also be able to perform surgery. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) started protesting against this decision from 8 December. IMA believes that this will promote myopathy.

The IMA also demonstrated on 8 December to keep allopaths or modern medicine safe. General Secretary of the Ghaziabad Indian Medical Association, Dr. Wani Puri said that mixopathy, ie slang, is not going to benefit anyone, but there will be a loss of various medical practices. The government should develop each system independently and not mix different medical methods.

However, all emergency services will continue during this period. Like all emergency services, COVID Hospital, ICU, Accident and Maturity Homes and Neonatal ICU will function as usual. The IMA also claims that neither the treatment of corona patients will be affected by the strike nor the emergency services will be affected.

In Maharashtra, including 45,000 doctors from 219 branches of IMA, 110,000 doctors registered with Maharashtra, Medical Council will also participate in the movement. Apart from this, 15,000 medical students from 36 government and private medical colleges in Maharashtra who are studying MBBS will actively participate in behalf of the wing of the Medical Students Network (MSN) of IMA.

Also, in addition to government and private colleges in Maharashtra, 15,000 junior doctors of many reputed hospitals who are studying post-graduation from private colleges are also from Maharashtra Resident Doctors Association (MARD) and IMA's Wing Junior Doctors Network (JDN ) Will be actively involved.

In this strike, 34 organizations of Specialist and Super Specialist doctors organizations of modern medicine will be actively supported.

Private OPD also closed in Karnataka

Similarly, private OPDs in Karnataka will also be closed from 9 am to 6 pm today. The strike was called by the IMA. However, emergency services and Kovid-19 service will operate normally during the strike.
