Every year in the month of December, there is severe cold in Delhi-NCR. The winter of the national capital Delhi is quite famous anyway. Although, this year, half of December is about to pass, but till now the bitter cold is not being felt.
For the last 2 days, the day temperature is running about 4 to 5 degrees above normal. In fact, for the last few days, an active Western Disturbance was working in the Himalayas and its upper parts. Experts of the Meteorological Department tell that due to the active western disturbance, the current temperature has increased.
Mahesh Palawat, Vice President of private weather agency Skymet, informed that when the Western Disturbance is active over the mountains, the wind speed decreases in the plains. When the speed of the winds is less, then there is an increase in the temperature. Similar weather is being felt in Delhi and surrounding areas for the last two-three days.
For the past several days, the minimum temperature of Delhi has remained around normal i.e. close to 8 degrees. Since the month of November, the minimum temperature has remained less than 10 degrees, so people are feeling that there is not much winter in the month of December.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, it is not that winter is far away from Delhi. IMD estimates that from Tuesday, December 13, the wind speed will once again increase because the effect of Western Disturbance is almost over in the Himalayan regions.
That’s why the snowfall that has happened in the Himalayan regions, especially in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, its effect will also be visible on Delhi’s winter. Actually, along with the speed of the winds, the direction of the wind will also come from the north-west. Which is going to bring icy cold along with it towards Delhi.
