Delhi Rains: Airport submerges, Several areas get waterlogged, 46-yr-old record breaks

Due to heavy rains in the capital Delhi, parts of Indira Gandhi Airport have been flooded. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Delhi on Saturday itself. The Meteorological Department has issued an 'Orange Alert' for today in Delhi. The special thing is that this is the first time after 2010, when the figure of rainfall in Delhi has crossed 1000 mm. This time Delhi has recorded the highest rainfall in 46  years. Sources associated with the Delhi airport said that the waterlogging occurred at around 7.45 am, which was cleared in 30 minutes. The drainage system of the airport is very good. After some time the water came out. 

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said on Twitter, "The airport premises were submerged for sometime due to sudden heavy rains.  

According to the municipal bodies, apart from Moti Bagh and RK Puram, Madhu Vihar, Hari Nagar, Rohtak Road, Badarpur, Som Vihar, Ring Road near IP Station, Vikas Marg, Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Pul Prahladpur Underpass, Munirka. . . Waterlogging was also seen on other routes including Rajpur Khurd, Nangloi and Kirari.
