Delhi: Massive Fire breaks out at Bhalswa Landfills, Three more incidents reported

The national capital reported four fire related incidents on Tuesday evening. Bhalswa landfills caught fire for the third time this year.

In North Delhi on Tuesday evening, an incident of massive fire break out has been reported at Bhalswa landfills. After hours of continuous burning, the generated smoke from the landfills is making the residents of the area feel choked. 

People living nearby to the Bhalswa landfills said, "We're not able to breathe and see properly. The government should take proper action on the situation of the dump yard here." 


As per the officials, the fire department got information about the massive fire at around 5:47 pm after which 10 fire trucks were rushed to the spot. To douse the flames, 13 fire trucks were at the site.

Environment Minister asked the DPCC for a report within 24 hours 

On Tuesday, Environment Minister Gopal Rai asked the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to prepare a report on the Bhalswa landfill fire and submit it within 24 hours. 

Meanwhile, Senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak shared a tweet in Hindi, "Fire breaks out again at Bhalswa landfill site. The fire is spreading to the nearby colonies, due to which the people there are finding it difficult to breathe. This Lanka of BJP's corruption is burning. In this (fire) both the BJP's arrogance and corruption will burn and finish the BJP." 


Reportedly, so far this year, three incidents of fire were reported at Delhi's Ghazipur landfill site. The previous fire breakout on March 28 doused for around 50 hours. 

The national capital reports three more fire incidents 

Apart from this, three more fire incidents were reported in the national capital on Tuesday. An incident of fire has been reported at MCD godown in New Sheikh Sarai near Malviya Nagar metro station. As per the Delhi Fire Services, a call was received around 4 pm and 13 fire trucks were sent to the spot. 

Near Shanti Van, a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus caught fire with no casualties being reported. As per the officials, this is the third incident that the DTC bus has caught fire in a month. 

On Tuesday evening, a massive fire breakout was reported in a slum cluster in Aggahpur village in Sector 41 of Noida.
