Delhi Gets Orange Alert After Stifling At 45 Degrees
The national capital is stifling at highest temperatures ever in April. Read further to know IMD's weather forecast.

On Thursday, April 29, the national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius. As per the weather forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of the maximum temperature crossing 46 degrees on Friday, April 29.

As per AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist and Lead International Forecaster Jason Nicholls, "On Thursday, New Delhi has ranked among the world's top 10 when it topped out at 109 degrees, about 5-degrees shy of the all-time record high temperature for April there, which is 45.6 degrees Celsius measured on April 30, 2019."
As per AccuWeather, the incident of massive fires at Bhalswa landfills is one of the main reasons for an increase in the maximum temperature along with deteriorating the air quality to hazardous.

IMD issues an Orange alert in Delhi NCR
The IMD has also issued an Orange alert in many parts of Delhi on Friday and Saturday. People are advised to stay indoors and stay hydrated to beat the heat. As per the MeT department, there is a possibility in the national capital to witness a partially clouded sky, light rain, and dust storm with winds speeding up to 50 kmph on Friday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, due to the stifling weather, the Delhi government has warned of a possible setback in the uninterrupted electricity supply services in the capital, including power supply to hospitals and Metro trains.
Heatwave breaking record
As per the IMD, March 2022 has recorded the highest temperatures in India as a whole since 1901. Reportedly, since April 2010 with eleven such heatwaves, the national capital has witnessed the highest heatwaves in April 2022 with nine heatwaves in the month.
