Former chairperson of Tata sons Group took his last breath at September 4 of this year on his journey from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. 54 year old Mr. Cyrus Mistry was travelling in his Mercedes car which smashed to the divided around 3.15 pm today.

According to Babasaheb Patel who is the superintendent of Palghar police stated that the accident happened in a brigde located over Surya river. The car crashed with the road divider in Charoti area of Palghar in Maharashtra which is 135 km away from Mumbai.

Jehangir Pandole, Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole were also present in the car. Darius Pandole also worked with the Tata group but left it along with Mr. Mistry. His wife Anahita was driving the car and his father Jehangir Pandole also died in the accident.

Anahita and Darius Pandole are airlifted to Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked the state police to conduct further investigation in detail.

Cyrus Mistry was the son of Pallonji Mistry whose empire built luxury hotels, stadiums, palaces and factories across Asia. He joined his family business in 1991. He worked as the chairperson of Tata group from 2012 to 2016 after the retirement of business tycoon Ratan Tata. He was fired with allegations mishandling and oppressing the rights of minor shareholders. Though he tried a lot to get his position back but the Supreme Court disapproved all his pleas.

Narendra Modi twitted “The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. May his soul rest in peace.”

Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of commerse is deeply shocked and said “Indian industry has lost one of its shining stars whose contributions to India's economic progress will always be remembered”.

Union Minister for Women Development Smriti Irani said “A gentle soul, a man with a vision and a mission; Cyrus as I will always remember him epitomised kindness. The news of his demise comes as a shock”.

N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons who replaced Mr. Mistry mentioned "I am deeply saddened by the sudden and untimely demise of Mr. Cyrus Mistry. He had a passion for life and it is really tragic that he passed away at such a young age”.
