In another bizarre incident of humans biting snakes, an eight-year-old boy reportedly bit a venomous cobra to death after the reptile attacked the child. The incident occurred in Pandarpadh village in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh, 350 km from Chhattisgarh capital Raipur. Jashpur is also known as Naglok because it has over 200 species of the reptile.

An eight-year-old killed a venomous cobra by biting it twice after the reptile bit him. Eight-year-old Deepak was happily playing in the backyard of his house in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district when he had the scare of his life.

As per a New Indian Express report, the snake had coiled around the boy's hand and was only tightening its grip. As the reptile didn’t budge when I tried to shake it off, I bit it hard twice. It all happened in a flash,” the boy told local media. Surprisingly, the young boy Deepak showed no symptoms of a snake bite as he was stung by a dry bite.

When he told his parents about the snake bite, the boy’s family rushed him to a medical centre, where he was administered anti-venom and kept under observation for a day. An examination of Deepak’s injury led doctors to conclude that he sustained a “dry bite”, meaning the cobra did not release any venom.

Surprisingly, Deepak showed no symptoms of a snake bite as he was stung by a dry bite meaning no venom was released during the attack. "He was quickly administered anti-snake venom and kept under observation for the entire day and discharged," said Dr Jems Minj, block medical officer as quoted by NIE. The boy was discharged from hospital and is fit as a fiddle, reports said.

A recent study published in 2022 revealed that more than 85 per cent of snakebite deaths recorded in 2019 occurred there.
