Boundary wall of a society in Noida collapsed: 4 killed and 8 hospitalised
A part of the boundary wall of Jal Vayu Vihar Society in Noida Sector 21 of collapsed in Tuesday morning around 10 am resulted in the death of 4 people. According to sources around 12 people got buried under the wreckage of the distorted wall.

A part of the boundary wall of Jal Vayu Vihar Society in Noida Sector 21 of collapsed in Tuesday morning around 10 am resulted in the death of 4 people. According to sources around 12 people got buried under the wreckage of the distorted wall. These people were reportedly labourers by profession who were engaged in repairing a drain adjoining to the wall.
Police along with fire department rushed to the scene and immediately begun the rescue operation without delay. Numerous JCB machines were arranged who instantly got into task of clearing the pile of debris of the broken wall. As per the officials a sub-contractor namely Gul Mohammad who had appointed these labourers had been arrested by the police station of sector 20 as the family of deceased filed a FIR against him.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashutosh Dwivedi informed PTI."A total of 12 labourers were pulled out of the rubble. Four of them died". Three out of these four deceased namely Pushpendra Singh (25), Panna Lal (25) and Amit (18) were residents of Baduan district of Uttar Pradesh and the last one namely Dharam Veer belonged to Sambhal. “Eight people have been rescued and taken to the hospital. The rescue operation is under way” said ACP Rajesh Verma.
An officer tweeted in Hindi "CM Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives in the wall collapse incident in Gautam Budh Nagar. He directed senior officials to rush to the spot and conduct relief work on a war footing". Police Commissioner Alok Singh, Joint Commissioner Love Kumar, Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari and fire service official chief Arun Kumar Singh reached the spot to ensure proper rescue measures.
Ritu Maheshwari clarified that "The Jal Vayu Vihar society is an old-construction society. The boundary wall was also constructed by the society itself and looked weak. A joint investigation by the police, the district administration and the Noida Authority will be carried out and if negligence is found on anybody's part then action would be taken against them”.
