Bharat Biotech has released Covid Nasal vaccine: know how to book it and its price.

The nasal vaccine was developed by Bharat Biotech in partnership with Washington University, St Louis, they have designed and developed the recombinant adenoviral vectored construct and to understand its effectiveness they have done preclinical studies too, the trials were successful in all the attempts. The development of the vaccine and trials were funded by the government of India under the department of Biotechnology’s, ‘Covid Suraksha Program’.

At the time of trials, it was found that the vaccine showed significant levels of antibody in saliva. Mucosal IgA antibodies were found in the upper respiratory tract which will help in reducing infections and spreading of it.

This is the world’s first intranasal Covid vaccine and Bharat Biotech got approval of it from Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) last month for using heterologous booster doses of iNCOVACC. iNCOVACC is a recombinant replication deficient adenovirus vectored vaccine with pre-fusion stabilized SARS-Cov-2 spike protein.

The vaccine is priced at Rs 800(plus GST) for private markets and Rs 325(plus GST) will be the price on which it will be sold to the central and state government. The nasal Vaccine has been designed to be cost-effective in low income countries. The vaccine will be taken through the nose, this process will be a painless way of vaccinating and many people can avail it. iNCOVACC will be first booster dose vaccine taken through the nose and now many people will get immunized hence reducing the chance of getting affected from new variants.

Covid is still not completely over and new variant are coming up hence people should take measures to stay safe and to get vaccinated.
