India and Israel has a bilateral relationship dealing in economic, military and strategic relationship. India has its embassy at Tel Aviv in Israel and Israel has its embassy in New Delhi with consulates at Mumbai and Bangalore. Israeli military equipments are largely purchased by India. The rise of Islamic extremist terrorism developed a strong strategic alliance between the two nations.

Why India didn't support Israel in UN?

In 2017 India opposed the United States' decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. India has opted for a balance out policy for Israel and Palestine since long. The military and strategic cooperation with Israel has deepened as the bilateral cooperation strengthened with US. The relation with Israel has been viewed as a shift from India’s sympathetic approach towards Palestine cause.

Why India supported Palestine in UN?

India has bilateral relationship with Palestine influenced by the independence struggle against British colonialism. Palestine has been supported by India since India got independence in 1947. The establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries strengthened their cooperation in military and intelligence ventures.

Countries supporting Palestine – PLO established many diplomatic relations with almost every country of the world out of which 138 UN member states recognize it as a separate State. The major recognition is from India, Russia, China, Middle East etc. 

Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, UAE, Bahrain etc are some of the countries supporting Israel and Palestine but as per these countries, Israel is the main culprit and misusing its powers as it is more powerful. 


Possibility of third world war 

The raging war between Israel and Palestine has created a possibility of third world war amidst global pandemic faced by the world. The Israel-Palestine conflict has taken place in May 2021. Both the countries are raging, rioting and protesting violently bringing a toll on people’s lives. Israeli authorities have attempted to relocate Palestinian families in East Jerusalem who were located there for more than 70 years.
