Self-care plays a significant role in maintaining maternal physical and mental health. It directly influences a mother's capability to care for her child. Caring for a new-born and the challenges of new parenthood  causes emotional stresses. Also a range of positive and negative emotions occurs due to hormonal changes.

During pregnancy maternal well-being is important for physical and mental health of mothers and babies. Experts have shared some self care tips for future mothers. They are-

1.Taking good care of yourself is significant to rebuild strength. So rest, proper diet and support from family and friends are important during  pregnancy.

2.Do activities, that brings you joy and relaxation like reading books, listening music, taking warm baths or massages or practising a new hobby.

3.A healthy and nutritional diet will help during pregnancy, childbirth and afterwards. Try to include fruits, leafy vegetables, proteins and healthy fat in your diet. Drink a lot of water to stay hydrated.

4.Take enough rest and sleep.

5.Doing regular exercise like swimming, yoga, meditation etc will help you keep physically active, relaxed, and  avoid complications during pregnancy and labour.

6.Maintain a good support system from your family, partner or other pregnant mothers. Try to discuss your concerns and joys with them.

7.Visit your doctor regularly. Discuss all your concerns and doubts or new symptoms or changes during pregnancy with them.
