Udta Bollywood: The film industry’s drug nexus gets darker with every new development

Two major revelations that happened about the film industry with actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death have changed lots of perceptions about the glamorous Bollywood.  Not only is the industry being looked down upon, but with the drug angle, Bollywood is winning the tag of Udta Bollywood which is inspired by Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’s film Udta Punjab which dealt with the alarming number of drug cases in the state. All lot of shocking and unpleasant facts have come to surface with the drug connection to late Sushant coming to the forefront.  And another fuel to this fire about drugs connection with Bollywood got stronger when a video from Karan Johar’s old party went viral, where many actors were said to be under the influence for some substances. 

The drug nexus was openly exposed by Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakroborty who is said to be a prime accused behind the Chichorre actor’s death. In her interviews on national television, Rhea had disclosed how Sushant was a drug addict and he kept smoking marijuana on regular occasions. With further investigations, it was revealed that Rhea, her brother Showik and SSR’s house manager Samuel Miranda were also involved in consuming and providing the actor with drugs through some renowned peddlers. Not just were these peddlers exposed, but actress Kangana Ranaut also pointed out on these Bollywood parties saying how expensive drugs are freely available at the host’s venue. The Manikarnika actress also stated how some drugs were mixed with water and served to the guests.  Kangana had also revealed how one of her mentors had spiked her drinks. 

With Kangana’s revelation and NCB getting some more clarity with their investigations, Rhea, her brother Showik and Samuel were taken into police custody. And amidst interrogations from NCB, Rhea named many actors and a list 25 A-listers from Bollywood who have been involved in this drug nexus is present with the NCB. These names are said to come under scrutiny soon. The 5 names that have been exposed to the public are of Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, Simone Khambata, Rohini Iyer and Mukesh Chhabra. Considering that three out of these five people had some connection to Sushant, there might be some serious probe against them. 

While the NCB has divided these names received by Rhea in her 20 pages long statement in three categories, there are many more big names that would come out with a connection to consuming drugs. As per reports, while these 5 names are on NCBs radar, it is being said that Rhea has specifically mentioned the names of Sara, Rakul, Simone, Rohini and Mukesh who will soon be called in for enquiry. 

As the case develops further, the nasty face of Bollywood’s drug ring is being unearthed, making many wonder if our film industry is soon going the face serious repercussions due to the menace of drug addiction. But what is also to ponder upon is, if the Indian film industry is the next Udta Bollywood.
