Renowned magician Om Prakash Sharma left the world at the age of 76 on 15th October 2022. He was reportedly undergoing dialysis treatment at Kanpur hospital in Uttar Pradesh while his relatives mentioned that he was suffering from Kidney failure.

Mukesh Gupta, a relative of the magician stated, “His health condition was not well from past two years after being diagnosed from Covid-19 and post that he suffered kidney problems and he had to go for dialysis twice in a week. But from past 4-5 days his condition got worsen and he was admitted in ICU at a private hospital and on October 15, 11 pm, doctors at the hospital declared him dead.”
OP Sharma resided with his family at Bhoot Bungalow located at Barra in Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh. O.P Sharma who acquired international recognition as master of illusion had began performing the art of magic in the tender age of 7. As per the reports of Aaj Tak OP Sharma have conducted and performed more than 34,000 magic shows in his career and the shows were mostly houseful as its tickets got sold rapidly.
Interestingly he was accompanied by more than 100 people in each of his shows including those which were organized in different cities. He used more than 16 trucks to take his equipment's along with his team that possesses -- artists, musicians, singers, make-up men, lighting controllers, painters, tailors, etc. This popularity persuaded the Samajwadi Party to give him a ticket for the assembly elections from Govind Nagar in 2002. However, he decided to join BJP in 2019.
He fathered three sons - Prem Prakash Sharma, Satya Prakash Sharma, and Pankaj Prakash Sharma, daughter Renu and wife Meenakshi Sharma in the family. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya offered his condolence while expressing grief on Twitter. He wrote: "Received sad news about the demise of decades' one-man show of magic, world-famous magician, Kanpur resident OP Sharma Ji."
