2020 was a bummer for many movie lovers as the theatres in the country had been shut due to the corona pandemic. And even after the lockdown was lifted cinema halls did not hold full occupancy amidst the restrictions of the Covid-19. But once again the central government has allowed it to run with 100% capacity through new guidelines. Now the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued the standard operating procedure for cinema halls on the same lines.
- It is necessary to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet in the auditorium and other common places, which is the SOP by the Ministry.
- It would be necessary to apply masks before entering theaters. It is necessary to arrange sanitizer for people at every gate.
- Spitting in the cinema hall will be forbidden.
- Who-so-ever enters the cinema hall must have the Arogya Setu app in mobile. These rules will come into effect from 1 February and cinema halls will operate with 100 percent capacity.
- There have also been orders for crowd control near parking lots and cinema halls. It will be necessary to follow social distancing there as well.
- Apart from this, not too many people can go in the lift.
- Crowd gathering during the interval outside the lobby, washroom and common area of the cinema hall will also be prohibited.
- During the interval, viewers can also be asked not to leave their seats.
Theatres were shut all over the country due to the Corona Pandemic
When the corona virus was introduced in March 2020, Cinema halls, multiplexes were shut down. Due to this, the Bollywood industry had suffered a lot. Theaters were allowed to reopen in the month of October under Unlock 5 on behalf of the central government. After this, many states like Haryana, Delhi, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat started opening theaters after 50 percent viewership.
