Makers declared upcoming Web series on Disney+ Hotstar: Mahabharata

Disney+ Hostar had announced about a lot of major Indian projects at the D23 Expo show which was organized in the US on Friday. A new series is going to be released in Disney+ Hotstar on the famous epic of Mahabharata. Mahabharata is the longest poem in the world. The epic was first brought on screen by BR Chopra which was telecasted in the Doordarshan channel. In 2013 Siddhartha Kumar Tewary made the TV serial which is also available in Hotstar.

Madhu Mantena, Mythoverse Studios and Allu Entertainment are going to produce the series in collaboration. The plot revolves around the conquest between two teams of brothers for the throne of Hastinapur which is a kingdom of ancient India. The tale is full of moral values, action, drama, suspense, fantasy and entertainment that make it ideal for a series.

Gaurav Banerjee who is the Head - Content Disney+ Hotstar and HSM Entertainment Network, announced at the expo. "There are over a billion people who know the story in some form, or the other. Most of them in my country have heard them as children from their grandparents, there are billions more who remain unaware of what they have been missing. It would indeed be a privilege to be able to bring this incredible story to a wider global audience next year."

Producer Madhu Mantena said in a stated "It is said that every known emotional conflict experienced by mankind finds form in Mahabharata through its complex characters and storylines. We at Mythoverse are absolutely delighted to have this opportunity provided by Disney+ Hotstar to bring out a rendition of this great Indian epic 'Mahabharata' and to announce this news on a prestigious global platform at the D23 Expo."

The makers had planned to dub the series in regional languages of India along with several foreign languages to access the audience across the world. The star cast would be selected very soon. Madhu Mantena had posted few posters in reference to the series on twitter which looks highly attractive. Some people had cautioned the makers in their comments by stating that none of the facts or part of the story should be misinterpreted.
