In light of the pandemic and the guidelines that come with it, our celebs are welcoming Ganpati Bappa this year on a smaller scale, but with a bigger heart and an even bigger enthusiasm.
Unlike every year, this year the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will see some high spirits simmer down and this is due to the existing pandemic scare. While things have begun to come to normal, some necessary precautions are still to be maintained and social distancing is one of the most important ones. Now with the lockdown taking a small toll on our festivals, we will also see our Bollywood and TV celebs cut down on the celebrations that happen on a much bigger scale otherwise. Just day before yesterday we saw actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra bring Bappa home with all necessary precautions.
And while this will be Shilpa’s first Chaturthi with her daughter, the actress will also be seen treating her fans with a special Ganehsotsav show on Star Plus. Other than Shilpa some other celebs too, who celebrate this festival with high josh have had to make it a low key affair. One such celeb is Raazi actress Amruta Khanvilkar who shared how her celebrations will be this year. “We got a small eco-friendly Ganesha Murti from the nearby pandals. For decoration I am going to be using my traditional navari sarees as backdrop and the Diwali lighting’s that I have for many years. The invitations for Darshan have been sent to selected people only since our building is allowing few people. It’s going to be a low key affair, but we are glad we could bring him home this year too.”
Not only Amruta but even some other celebs are keeping the Ganpati festival a low-key affair. In fact, actors Rithvik Dhanjani, Juhi Parmar and Raqesh Bapat have made their own Ganesh idols with mud and clay.

Some other celebs also shared their plans for Ganesh Chaturthi in lockdown. While actress Aahana Kumra said that she will be shooting on the day, actor Shashank Vyas said, “It's an amazing time of the year. The festivities in the air, the delicious food, everything gets me in high spirit. I go to my friends and colleagues' homes but this times it could be a little different because of COVID 19 but I am still positive and want peace for everyone.”
Sharing his plans of celebrating Ganeshotsav, actor Sharad Malhotra said, “Bappa comes to my home every year and this year too I plan to bring him. It's a very auspicious festival and I love celebrating it with my family. This time it will be a little different because of the COVID 19 effect but nonetheless, me and my family will celebrate and do puja.” Actress Jasmin Bhasin also shared how she will welcome Bappa during the lockdown, she said, “I love this time of the year! There is so much hope and positivity everywhere around and I thoroughly enjoy Ganesh Chaturthi. Even though the pandemic is around, I am sure that the city will celebrate keeping in mind social distancing rules and maintaining cleanliness standards.”
Well, no matter how simple the celebrations might be, the josh will surely be high amongst the devotees of Ganpati Bappa. Here’s wishing everyone a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi!
