Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi set to hit theatres on Feb 25

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt has finally got its release date. The movie is all set to hit the theatres on February 25, 2022. Earlier, the movie was scheduled to release in July 2021. However, the release was postponed due to the Covid-19. Featuring Alia Bhatt as Gangubai, the movie is about one of the most powerful, loved, and respected madams from Kamathipura, Mumbai’s red-light area, during the 1960s. The movie will be premiered world-wide at the prestigious 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. 

To announce the news of release the team shared the information via their twitter handle. 

Gangubai Kathiawadi is Alia Bhatt’s first film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film also stars Ajay Devgn as a mobster, who falls in love with Gangubai. In the film, Gangubai is featured as a sex worker who later emerges as an underworld don in Mumbai. The script of Gangubai has been adapted from one of the chapters of Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai.’ 

Earlier in an interview with ETimes, Bhansali said, “We made it during the pandemic, and I have given it my all. I can’t wait to share it with everyone."
