In 2020, there haven’t been great films that we got to watch, and the lockdown due to Covid-19 was a big spoiler in terms of entertainment. While it took away the theatrical experience from us, it was new films to watch on the OTT space. Some films from these were impressive, while some were not and while we looked forward to every story, Akshay Kumar’s Horror-comedy Laxmii was one of them. While the film trailer was impressive, the movie turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Yes, after watching Laxmii, I felt that it would have been okay if I would have only seen the trailer because the makers gave away all the punches in the 3-minute trailer itself, and the 2-hour long film had nothing new in terms of comedy which barely existed. And not just the comic element, the film also lacked the horror part equally, in all the film was a disappointment.

What was wrong with Laxmii?

Since the promotions, the team said, ‘aa rahi hai…Laxmii’ and all excitement we waited to welcome her and watch her story, but the excitement fizzled out in the first 30-minutes of the film. Yes, from bad editing to forced performances to a regressive storyline to a very predictable plot, the film if full of flaws. In fact, there is not a scene where this ‘horror-comedy’ will scare you or make you laugh. The songs in the film have been vaguely placed, making the film hard to follow.

And while there is nothing new in Laxmii, with the promotions and the hype around it the expectations were quite high. But we guess, all the makers could do a good job at was the film’s trailer.

Other than Laxmii, here are 5 other films who set expectations high, but disappointed later. Check out…

Tubelight

While Salman Khan’s film Tubelight made news for several reasons, the film was also promoted in full swing creating hype around how the story will be loved by all. But when the movie released, it didn’t manage to deliver the hype. After being a flop, Salman Khan had to even payback to the distributors who suffered a loss due to the movie.

Raees

When Shah Rukh Khan said, ‘baniye ka dimaag, miyabhai ki daring’ all his fans rejoiced. And with all the pre-release communication around the film, with the train ride and other activities, fans we really looking forward to the film. But when Raees released it failed to click with the audience and didn’t do very well at the box office.

Jab Harry Met Sejal

Another Shah Rukh Khan starrer with Anushka Sharma Jab Harry Met Sejal disappointed fans big time. While the film's promotional strategy was very interesting and so was the buzz around, the film's story was said to be very boring and confusing.

Shaandaar

There was nothing so shaandaar about the Shahid Kapoor and Ali Bhatt starrer, except for the hype around it. During the film’s promotions, lots of song launches were kept and Alia and Shahid were also seen having a lot of fun with the media, but that was all the fun part about the film. There was nothing extraordinary about this film, not the storyline or the performances. In fact, Shaandaar is said to be Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s career’s worst film.

Student of the Year 2

Like the first part, a lot of expectations were set with the second part too. Starring Tiger Shroff, Ananya Pandey, and Tara Sutaria, the film’s posters, teaser, and even the trailer looked very promising. Other than this the students went around painting the town red promoting the film, but the end result was not so good. With so much hype around the film, Student of the Year 2 became a huge disappointment.
