Maharashtra: Schools to open from Jan 24
In Maharashtra, schools will reopen from January 24 after the approval of CM Uddhav Thackeray

CM Uddhav Thackeray has approved the decision to open schools in Maharashtra from January 24. This information has been shared by Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwadi. "From 24 (January) we will be reopening schools for classes 1-12th with COVID protocols; Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has agreed to our proposal. After Covid cases rose, the government decided not to continue with the school (offline) sessions. But after discussion with the experts, it has been decided to start the sessions where the number of cases is low based on the local Covid-19 situation", Gaikwad was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
She said that in a meeting with the Task Force and the Parent Teacher Association all agreed to reopen the school. However, all SOPs will be followed when the school opens. It has been made clear that the health and safety of the children will come first. The Education Minister said that consent will be taken from the parents and guardians.
Final decision on local administration
The decision will be taken by the local administration based on the number of cases in their respective areas. If Covid cases remain low and SPO can be followed then schools should start. The final decision to open the school will be with the local administration but from January 24, schools will start in Maharashtra. Let us tell you that earlier, the Parents Association of Mumbai had written a letter to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, requesting to open the schools immediately from January 24.
