The main features of the new combat uniform of the Indian Army
- The uniform has a mix of colors including olive and earthy. It has been designed keeping in mind the areas of deployment of soldiers and the climatic conditions as they operate.
- As per the sources, the new uniform has been designed after analyzing the combat uniforms of the armies of various other countries in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology.
- This uniform is more comfortable and will be worn in all types of terrains. The digital disruptive pattern has been prepared with the help of computer aid.
- Sources said that in the new uniform, there is no need to tuck the shirt into the trousers. The shirt had to be tucked into the old uniform.
- Sources said that the new uniform will not be available in the open market.
- The fabric is used as cotton-to-polyester in the ratio 70:30, the lightweight fabric makes it quicker to dry and more comfortable to wear in humid and hot conditions.
As per the Army, "it is an ergonomically designed, operationally effective, new-generation camouflage combat uniform. The fabric is 15 per cent lighter, and has 23 per cent more strength against tearing, against the current uniform. The ergonomic features allow for long-hour use and comfort, and micro features are inbuilt for the use of the wearer in field conditions."
