Schools in Delhi will remain shut till further orders due to increasing air pollution levels and decreasing air quality, the Directorate of Education announced on Sunday. However, as reported by ANI, online education will continue like before.

On September 1 schools had reopened for classes 9 to 12 and for the remaining classes they reopened on November 1 but due to pollution they have been shut down since last week.

“…all the Govt., Govt. Aided, Unaided Recognized, NDMC, MCDs and Delhi Cantonment Board Schools will remain closed till further orders. However, Online teaching learning activities and the examinations for Board classes would be conducted as per guidelines issued earlier,” the official order released by the DoE says.

Further, it said, “All the Heads of Schools are hereby directed to disseminate this information among students, staff members, SMC members and parents."

Meanwhile, offices were also asked to function with work from home mode. Besides, the government is also considering a complete lockdown if the situation worsens. The air quality in Delhi worsened since Diwali. As of November 21, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has been recorded at 349, which is “very poor", tweeted CM Kejriwal.
