Delhi: Schools, Colleges to reopen from Sept 1 in phases
Amidst the decreasing cases of Covid-19 Delhi government issues an order to reopen schools and colleges from Sep 1.

The government of Delhi has decided to reopen schools, colleges and coaching centres in a phased manner from September 1. The Delhi government officials and Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has taken this decision on Friday but an official notification from the government is still awaited.
As notified by Delhi Education Minister and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, "No child will be forced to come to school. consent of parents is necessary for attending physical classes."
On Friday, "DDMA approved the recommendation of an expert committee that schools for all classes must be opened in a phased manner in the wake of significant improvement the Covid-19 situation", reported TOI.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweets, "We also have to bring life back on track and take care of both health and education of the children." LG Anil Baijal, DDMA chairman said, "It was emphasised that adequate preparedness in school, strict enforcement of SOPs and daily monitoring should be undertaken to avoid any spread of infection."
Colleges and universities in Delhi have also received a go-ahead from the government to reopen, however, the the SOPs will be released by individual institutes. For schools, detailed SOPs will be released by the Directorate of Education.
To avoid crowding, schools have been asked to have multiple entry and exit gates. Initially, schools will be allowed to function at 50% capacity.
After the meeting, Sisodia said, "no final decision has been taken regarding junior classes and a call will be taken after analysing the effect of reopening schools for senior classes, it can be expected that classes 6 to 8 may reopen from September 8."
