Every year, World Thinking Day is observed on February 22 to create awareness about the rights and needs of young women. The day also holds importance to raise funds for helping the needy and deserving women.
History and Significance of the day
Celebrated by many young girls scouts and girls guides, this day offers a chance for the members of scouts and guides to connect and share their sisterhood. Girl scouts and girl guides performs an impactful thing by raising funds for the betterment of young girls across the globe.
In 1926, the fourth girl scout international conference was held to discuss the importance of spreading a worldwide awareness for girl guides and girl scouts. During the conference, it was decided to celebrate February 22 as Thinking Day.
February 22 is also marked as the birthday of Lord Baden-Powell and his wife Lady Olave Baden-Powell. Lord Baden-Powell founded the boy scout movement, and his wife Lady Olave Baden-Powell was the first in the world to be the chief guide. In 1999, the name of the day was changed from Thinking Day to World Thinking Day.
Theme of the Day for 2022
Every year, the theme of the day is decided by a team of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. For 2022, the theme is decided as “Our World: Our Equal Future: The Environment and Gender Equality.” In 2021, the theme of the day was "Stand Together for peace" and in the year 2020 the theme of the day was "Living Threads".
