Every year, November 13 is celebrated as a day commemorated to a characteristic which stands for improving many lives around us. In 2021, November 13 will be celebrated as World Kindness day. Kindness is an act which goes a long way in order to change lives around us. 

History and Significance of the Day 

As per the Awareness Days website, "World Kindness Day was first commemorated in 1998 by an organization called The World Kindness Movement, formed at a 1997 Tokyo conference of like-minded kindness organizations from around the world. In the United Kingdom, the Kindness Day UK is organized by Kindness UK, a not for profit organization." 

World Kindness day is observed in many countries like Canada, Australia, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates. It was in 1998, that the day has been established to be celebrated with an annual observance. 

In the digital age of social media it is becoming very easy to spread troll and hate towards anybody without any real consequences.  World Kindness Day reminds us that simple acts related to appreciating someone’s effort can go a long way. 

Be Kind towards Self and Others 

Being kind to self or someone is not a difficult task. Here are some of the ways which you can adopt and spread the kindness around your surroundings. 

- Share a motivating text to your near and dear ones. 

- Take out some time for yourself from your busy schedule. 

- Forgive yourself for the things which makes you anxious. 

- Stop trying to be Perfect. 

- Accept yourself and other people just the way they are.  

- Stop thinking about what other people think. 

- Think positive, speak positive and act positively. 

- Talk to a friend or family member you haven't spoken to in a long time. 

- Share genuine compliments. 

- Treat your pets in an animal shelter. 

- Become a good listener. 

- Be kind to yourself and take a day off.
